Last week was a pretty mellow week in that we weren't running all over the place. It was nice because I had the chance to get a lot of cleaning done around the house. However, thanks to having three children, it's like I got nothing done at all. :)
This being one of our last lazy weekends at home for quite some time, Adam and I spent much of yesterday cleaning out the garage. When we moved into the house, we lost A TON of garage space. I try not to obsess about it, but we have a ridiculously small garage, something I should have paid a lot more attention to when we were looking to buy it. But it is what it is now. So, a ton of crap just got tossed into the garage. We didn't have garage door openers (because those don't come with a new house apparently) and we needed to get our shed built (because we had zero space in the garage) so the garage just moved way down on The List. But we have garage door openers now and our shed was built last month so we finally got around to getting the garage cleaned out. My van BARELY fits, I mean seriously, barely but it's in there. :) Anyway, back to school stuff....
We're still in Math Overdrive here. A huge plus is that Adisson's Time4Learning math lessons have had printable worksheets for every single new concept. It's been a lifesaver. Between worksheets and online math games, I feel like we are starting to make some progress. Last week our focus was on perimeter and area. Because my Mom is coming to visit (HOLY SMOKES I'M SO EXCITED!! She hasn't been to visit us in two years so we're so anxious to have her visit us instead of us having to go to Ohio!) I think we need to get Adisson's EOG testing done before she gets here. Otherwise, I'm going to lose out on all that we've done. I've been going back and forth on whether or not we'll do paper testing or online testing. We use the CAT for our standardized test because it's easier than most and I loathe standardized testing and both options are available. I think we'll likely do online testing because he's already so familiar with online work anyway.
I'd like to get some practice in this week, but in order to practice for a big test like that, he's going to need some absolute peace and quiet and that's not a common sound in this house, thank you Jaxon. Hopefully, I can sway Jax with some nap times and bribe him with video games if nothing else works. I just want to be done, honestly. I'm just ready to wrap this year up. I'm tired of crazy, hectic years. In the six years that Adisson has been homeschooled, we've either moved, Daddy's been deployed, or welcomed a brother...and I just want a year of stability. We've stuck with the same curriculum for over a year now (which is a record for us!!) and I just want to find our rhythm. I feel like as soon as we get it all sorted out, a big life change comes along.
I want to take this summer, get my year alllll planned out. We're adding in a few things to our school year, still sticking with Time4Learning as our core, but I want to be sure to include suggested projects and experiments. Science activities are the boys favorite part of school so I want to be more intentional in my planning and prep for the upcoming year.
Anyway, it's time for bed. I need my sleep for yet another math filled week...don't be jealous! :)
